A quirky, satirical tale of self-realization, rejected world-views, and general madness on the west coast of the US before and after it slips into the sea at the end of the Kaliyuga.
Three parallel buses hurtle through discontinuities in time, space and dimension associated with the catastrophic climate changes accompanying the end of the era of Kali, the Indian Goddess of death and rebirth.
Using a shifting-perspectiv­e internal narrator, Blues4Kali uses graphic metaphor and symbolic structure to convey ideas about this pending cataclysm and the crumbling civilization facing it.
The plot pits two opposite visions for the future beyond the posited Flood; that of the Karma Alliance Light Institute, an ultra-vegan endeavor urging radical population control, and H.O.S.S., a Crowleyesque, dark-magic outfit of speed-addled S&M enthusiasts who supply annual underground barbecues in the desert, called Roasted Man.
The narrative transcends time, place, and propriety to demonstrate the many levels on which Dark Mother Kali struggles against the Gods of Monotheism and patriarchy, struggling for control of the values of the future, and, ultimately jettisons eight centuries ahead to find that oppression has again overwhelmed freedom in the society founded by the descendents of KALI.
A complex boundary-blurrer that respects no genre, but freely picks between them, Blues4Kali is a study in collective and personal values as we mount the handbasket to Hel. Be ready for a mind-bending journey to the Neverpoint, where all meaning converges on singularity.
